Maelinn stood up. She wasn’t quite sure how to continue, but she wasn’t about to let the conversation lapse here.
“You’re not going to ask why?” Zaile was becoming irritated.
“Sometimes I think you like me to ask why so you can tell me I wouldn’t understand.” Maelinn spoke carefully. “It makes you feel superior.”
Zaile scowled. Perhaps that was true,… because he had intended that to be where this conversation would end.
