Remember Alien Dice: Legacy? I had to stop doing it when the other tablet started giving me more issues and was not working as fast as I wanted to (Yeah… it started that long ago. It died the first time in July of that year.). The only reason it hasn’t started up again is that I’m working on backlog work and then after that.. have other excess work. Computers not working causes problems that last months after they’ve been replaced.
Anyway, I also haven’t had time to even begin scripting the next chapter of AD – it’s outlined and I have the original scripts, which don’t quite work now.
Some do, but it’d be an awkward set of pages going back to the original 4 panel layouts.
So, the next chapter of Legacy is Lessa’s chapter, which might explain a few things much better. How would you, the readers, feel if I started updating Legacy at least twice a week, maybe three at least past the Lessa and Kade part so you get a little more background, while I work on getting my scripts in order? If not, that’s fine as well, I just don’t want to be writing a script the day before I need to start working on it.
Thus, there will be no updates for awhile otherwise.
- Tiff
Addendum: If I can manage to get six pages scripted by the end of the week, I’ll go on without interruption.

Hello!
Long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to let you know that in my browser at least, the ad at the top of Legacy is over top of the comic and, more importantly, over the top of the RSS button.
I personally would be perfectly fine with Legacy updating rather than the main comic. In fact, I prefer it, for the very reasons you mentioned there.
I don’t know if you planned to do this or not, but if you do end up updating Legacy, any chance you could also put a link in the news bit as a reminder? I know I can get there through the site buttons and all, but I’m also likely to forget that something IS updating. Unless Legacy will be put on the front page? I don’t know. ‘x3;
Sorry to ramble, just an idea and some reasoning I guess.
I gotta agree here about putting a notice about it on the updater (providing it doesn’t make front page), some people may not notice otherwise.
I’d like to see AD: Legacy continued.
I would MUCH rather you just stuck to what you’re doing now. I’ve been around several years, and you have a habit of spreading yourself too thin. I’d rather see the currently-updating-comics continue to update on a consistent basis than get more stories that may or may not update because you’re too busy.
I’m very interested in AD: Legacy, but it can be told later. And besides, who’s to say a few years from now your current scripts won’t cause problems like your old scripts are doing now? Better to wait and get it all sorted out first.
If you’re asking because you have spare time, then maybe you can use that time to build a buffer? That way you can take on more projects without putting your current projects in jeopardy.
Uh, if I don’t do Legacy there will be a couple of weeks without any updates at all. That’s the choice.
No offense, but that doesn’t make a lick of sense to me.
Either you do Legacy comics, or you do nothing? Normally if one has the time to do one project, one would have the time to do something else instead. Sounds like there’s info here that I’m missing.
Mildly off topic, but have you read Time Management for the Creative Person? It made a big difference in my life and the way I handled my projects. Not to mention, I thought it was a good read (not like most time management books).
It takes a fraction of the time to do one page of Legacy as compared to one page of the regular comic, even doing multiple pages takes less time, FAR LESS time, and because I have one page inked and two pages penciled waiting to be inked, room to breathe while I get ahead in scripts. If nobody wants to see Legacy, then I just script and try to get everything done ASAP so I can start updating again. I’ve been trying for WEEKS now to get time to do the scripts, but have not until recently had even a flicker of desire, which makes it hard to write.
Thing about time management is that I already spend 12-14 hours a day, every day, working. (The rest of my day is spent making all the meals and various other things housewives are to do on top of full time jobs.) Of course, (removes growly comment about people who don’t let me sleep at night because they have to stay up until two in the morning playing stupid video games)
Dude…she is a Mom with a kid who has health issues and household chores to do. Plus, she is doing this comic for free, both writing and drawing. She has to do other work to bring in money! Do you have children or are chief cook and bottle washer in your home? I am both and between this and my son’s therapy I barely have time to get groceries and necesaties for my family, let alone draw! It is a good thing my husband works overtime so I can focus on the other stuff. I think she is amazing to do what she does!
Exactly my point. She’s spread too thin, so I’m saying she should cut her load down. Focus her energy on just a few things, rather than a dozen or more.
I have yet to begin reading Legacy, but once I’m done I plan to start. I have a feeling I will like it, but I agree with postponing Legacy and focusing on the main thing.
Legacy confuses me.
i absolutely LOVE legacy, but you need to take your time and pace yourself. if you think that you’re ready to go back to it then go ahead it would be wonderful if you did it, if you think it would be too hard for you to do it and still work on more important things to you then you shouldn’t. it’s your call what you do.
ps: one thing that confuses me is all the stories related to Darius since there is no writing and not much dialogue. there is too much left to the reader’s imagination for the story to move along smoothly. could you tell me what’s going on with that?
I’d like to see Alien Dice: Legacy updating again. Given that it’s a black and white comic, it should actually free up time compared to Alien Dice.
Eileen: One of the facts revealed in Alien Dice: Legacy is that male Rishans have genetic memory passed from the father to the son. So the first half of Legacy is Taumus’ dream of Lexx and the second half is after Taumus wakes up.
I think.
Thank you for the comments – I’m going to not update Abby this week and try really hard to script – If I’m lucky, I’ll hit a ‘streak’.
Yes, please update Legacy some more. I’d be willing to wait on the main storyline for my backstory.
P.S. I remember PURE… that hasn’t updated in much longer…
I have not forgotten PURE.
Yay, good news.
I miss Pure.
Just a short comment.
Yes I would like Legacy to come back. I hope it would let your life calm down a bit.
Not to dodge the question, but I believe you should do what’s most comfortable for you. If you need some time away from posting strips, just blog occasionally to let us know how you’re doing and to reassure us you’re still there. Just for God’s sake, please never pull a Venus Envy.
I think people keep getting confused – I never intended to do them at the same time.
That being said – you’re getting regular updates … unless I fall behind and as I only have ONE page scripted beyond this week… yeah.. stupid ice storm… I can’t work with people bothering me all day for a week.
If Alien Dice is going to simmer on the back burner for some time, then Alien Dice: Legacy would be nice to have in the mean time. It probably is a better place for character background than the current Alien Dice story arc.
However, I would prefer that you do whatever it takes to make the eventual show-down between Lexx, Trasik, and Alien Dice Corporation be epically climatic.
Typo: I meant *climactic*
