Keith fell into line behind Chel while Victor picked up his bag.
“I’m sorry you’re caught in the middle of this, Chel.”  Keith whispered to her.
“I’m not …”   Chel whispered back.  She was glad she didn’t have to face them.  It would have been too hard to hide the worry she knew was written across her face.
‘I may not like it, but I’m in the best place to help Lexx.’  Chel had to work to push aside the knotting pain in her gut.  It’s better for him if he’s able to win and get away than to stay here and be a captive again.  ‘Even if it means never seeing him again when it’s all over.’
Chel sighed quietly.
So this was love.
It was awful.
