“Stop that! Let me go!” Karmine shrieked and pushed away from Chel. … So that’s another reason why … The reaction was the same as it had been with Lexx, only more physical. Another reason Lexx didn’t like being touched. He probably went through the same punishments as these children, only more of them. They all have that unconscious personal space, except Pitrea. Chel looked at the twins. They stood close together, but never close enough to be touching each other and never close to Karmine or Pitrea. Chel frowned at the thought of the little girl. She had already shown she craved attention from Chel and had likely been pushed away by the older children. She hasn’t reached a point where she might question what’s going on with her. Or … and the thought frightened Chel, She has questioned and that’s why she doesn’t speak. She’s afraid. What had happened to them brought on more chilling thoughts. They were only children. Just like Lexx had been. It was hard to think of him as a child, because it was like thinking of herself. There were only a handful of years that separated them from these helpless children. Then Chel realized, she might as well be a helpless child as well. She was in the same predicament as these children. She was being moved around against her will without any choice of what was going to happen to her. Lexx, as powerful as he might be, was also being moved against his will. The only difference was that Chel knew that someone was coming for her. Lexx would come. He would. And she realized that he should not. He needed to finish the game and she was in the way of that goal now.
