Lexx stepped out of the door and onto his ship, his new ship. It was bare of things and that’s what Lexx wanted. No distractions and only silence as a background for his thoughts. Best of all, there were not any dice here. “Light’s off.” Lexx sought the comfort of darkness. He wanted to be calm. He wanted to be able to think clearly and for that silence and darkness were ideal. Lexx dropped immediately to one knee and folded his wings over himself. For as annoying as they were, they could come in handy for temporarily blocking out prying eyes. He could almost enjoy the illusion of complete isolation and privacy. I have to think about this and I want to be alone … is that so wrong? Lexx asked himself. I feel horrible for dismissing Chel like that. I just have to think. Lexx rubbed his head with his right arm, his left bound close to his body as it continued to regenerate. Right now, it was useless and just one more thing that made Lexx afraid of being anywhere near those humans. He was off balance and without his left arm he felt vulnerable. It was something he didn’t mind around Chel or even Riley, but around someone that might be looking for a weakness it was too much of a strain. His mind prickled with the intensity of that fear. It was uncontrollable and further made his nerves tingle in an irritated way, like someone was running a current of electricity just under his skin. He was trying to stop it, but the more he tried, the more he failed and the more frustrated he got with his failure. Even alone on the ship he could feel it. The thought of even being touched at that moment was unbearable. Lexx decided to ignore the sensation and just try to think through things. He began with, Riley should have warned me. Sometimes … I don’t think Riley takes some things as seriously as they are.
