"I'm not here to issue a challenge right now," Mauki's voice echoed through Lexx's head and within a thought the three of them were in a casual relay conversation. Lexx immediately set himself on guard, but felt nothing intrusive on Mauki's end. "As far as Trasik, Dom and Tai know, I'm just doing research." Riley folded his arms, casting a wary glance in Lexx's direction to see his reaction. Lexx was glowering in Mauki's direction, listening, but clearly angry. Showers of flickering golden sparks flitted through the red aura surrounding him. "They're planning to team you, Lexx. They're going to challenge you one right after the other and I'm supposed to be the last, but I'm not playing that game anymore. I haven't for a long time. They thought they would get me out of retirement." Mauki explained quickly. "They want to try to get you before The Gauntlet is officially called." Lexx felt an altogether too familiar chill ripple down his spine. The Gauntlet… again. It'd either put a swift end to his game or be the final phase. If they called The Gauntlet, and he won, there would not be any more challenges. The ADC would still own him until he caught all the dice, but it wouldn't matter. He could catch them at his leisure and drag the game out until everyone became bored and had forgotten about him. Then, he could win and the ADC wouldn't bother him. That was a good way out. He would still have to do premium visitations and other such things in the contract, but the possibility of being captured by another alien player would be gone.

  1. Only alien players? So a native player could catch you?

    1. A native already has.

      1. Ba-dum-chih! (Drum and symbol, at least how they sound to me…)
