"Stay away from Chel." Lexx broke the relay feed. He turned abruptly and strode away from Riley and Mauki. He was too angry to deal with Mauki and now that it was clear there wouldn't be a fight, he needed to see to Rook and Swiftpaw. He hoped they had managed to defeat their target in the time that he'd just wasted.
Mauki and Riley watched Lexx walk away. Mauki started to follow, but a blocking hand from Riley indicated clearly that Riley wasn't done with him yet. Mauki glared at his brother, but stayed back.
"Rook! Swift!" Lexx called out. "Why is it so quiet?" The roaring sound was gone, replaced only by insect sounds. There were not any sounds of battle. Lexx headed for the sparse growth of trees he'd seen Rook at last. He didn't realize that something else had already taken up residence in the trees.
