Blood. Lexx stared into the growing pool of blood beneath him, dimly aware that his nose had been broken and jaw cracked. A droplet of blood from the end of his nose made the pool ripple almost hypnotically. Lexx was mesmerized and had an overwhelming desire to stop trying to get up and just lay down. He wanted to give up and go to sleep. For a very long time. He wanted to let someone else take care of the problems sitting on his shoulders like a thousand pound dice. How had he ended up in this position? How did he end up having someone else dependent on his actions? It was never his intention. Never. Yet, here he was, staring into a pool of his own blood, fighting a fight he didn’t need to be fighting and pushing himself when he didn’t need to. “Oro?” Skate loomed over Lexx, hovering like a giant mother hen in concern. She was whining very gently at Lexx to respond to her. Lexx pushed himself up, quivering with weariness and working up the last of his reserves. He had to keep going. How he had put himself in this position did not matter. It was getting Chel out of it that did. Maybe it would all be better if he wasn’t even a part of the equation. Lexx’s right wing slowly rose back, the clawed tips flexing as he tested the wing for injury. He didn’t look up. Doing that might tip off Skate off to his intentions.
