Chel walked. A ray of light struck Chel across the face, making her squint and at the same time she noticed something that did not belong in the vacuous landscape. Faded green. No, it was a good grassy green, there were just clouds obscuring it from where she stood. Chel hurried toward it and quickly saw light falling on a spot of fresh green grass. What did it mean? This place was so dead, it didn't seem as though any light had fallen on it for a very long time and now, there was this patch of very new green grass. A few old dead strands were scattered among the new. Chel was going to kneel down to look at the patch more closely when she heard light footsteps hitting the gravel. Suddenly, a short figure with dark bluish hair rushed by her. "Lexx?" Chel stared at the short figure. It was him,… but younger. Much younger.

  1. Ah yes, I believe I wrote about a similar scene 10 years ago now…always makes for a touching scene in a world of bleak darkness.
