A harmonic beeping sound filled the air and broke through Andisel’s thoughts. Her company was here. “Bring her in.” The nearby doors immediately slid open in response to Andisel’s words and a very thin and tired looking Shira Kane stood on the other side with one of Andisel’s most trusted guards, Korbaen Dasch. She had personally chosen him to be Kane’s escort for his manners and chose to ignore the disapproving look he was now casting in her direction. Andisel delighted in placing him in such situations, knowing how much he despised his job, yet how willing he was to do as he was told. This was what she wanted in Lexx. “Shira Kane, such a pleasure to meet you.” Andisel rose from her couch and greeted Kane with her best smile and voice. Kane gave Andisel a suspicious look. She had been transported in a way that she was not familiar with. Normally, she would have been thrown in with a large group of prisoners, but her entire trip had been from one solitary cell to another. She had been given minimal food and water and no-one spoke to her. Now, she was thankful for the supportive hand of her guard on her back. He had removed her wristlets and been kind. That was a departure from the usual shoving and prodding Kane had received at the hands of other guards. A servant robot rolled past the two, pushing a large cart with several covered platters on it up to the two couches. It beeped once and then quickly exited the room. Kane kept her eyes on Andisel, immediately working out what kind of food was under the covers.
