“I don’t know how to do ‘reports’.” Chel twiddled her fingers and gave her father the best innocent, no clue, daughter look she could manage. “Keith will walk you through it when we get home.” Vic nodded in Keith’s direction, who was nodding with a smile in agreement. “I would, but I’m going to have my hands full moving our family.” “Moving?” Chel’s jaw dropped open in surprise. Where were they moving? Was it her fault? What else was going to change? “Temporary move, Chel.” Victor tried to sound reassuring. “It happens in our line of work.” Chel froze, noticing her father was gesturing to her and saying our. He was not gesturing to Keith, who was standing right next to him. Keith was giving her an odd look, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Text will be fully caught up next week when Kim goes to day camp. :D This week has been a bit busy, capped off by yesterday's five hour trip out to go to two camp orientations. Second one was all about Camp Moss, the heart camp for kids. She'll be in good hands for her first time at a real camp and I hope she fully understands how special it is, because we could never afford to send her to camp. They told us it'd regularly cost $800 for camp, and I somehow think that number is for a REGULAR camp, not one filled with 115 heart patients in various conditions, many of which are serious. As in, all of these kids have had open heart surgery as far as I could tell. Now I have to figure out how to pay for the few things that she needs to take (along with feeding us, we're down to sandwiches and zucchini). Which brings me to this month's round of wallpapers: I sense people are stuck, so here's how you expand: When you donate, you can suggest additional characters to be involved, a theme (1), costumes, activity, etc. Within reason. Right now, I'm waiting on further details to begin sketching! - Tiff

  1. I have a feeling Vic’s going to go over her report with a fine-tooth comb…as would ANY father who’s daughter’s been running around with a geneticly-human alien…

    1. I think its ‘as would ANY father who’s daughter has been running around with a GUY’ ;p

  2. Alternately she can stay on the ship with the life she seems to enjoy. He can’t haul her off-board bodily. The dice would see to that.

  3. At least it IS only temporary. And it’s likely that she’ll still have access to a portal to reach Lexx’ island and ship.

  4. The portal can be sent anywhere. Lexx just needs to use the Relay and Boom, He and Chel are together. Still, I say we are in the calm before a major storm that the Gauntlet will only be one part of.

  5. It must be very annoying to have a dad involved in an anti-alien unit. I, instead of Chel, might think (or even say) “Shove your reports into a where-the-sun-does-not-shine place”.

    1. It’s either very annoying…or very convenient. If it’s her father handling the reigns in the immediate future – she stands a chance at guiding interactions. Would a stranger know enough about Chel to trust her opinions and observations? Her father knows his daughter is generally trustworthy, or he wouldn’t have left her in charge of the house at the beginning of the comic. She mis-handled a few things in between there, or I’d bet she’d have his COMPLETE trust right now. Hiding too many things worked against her, but to be fair, she didn’t know she could trust him to understand or to help her.

  6. Chel: “I know of a wonderful little island in the middle of nowhere that would be perfect. 😀 ”

    Vic: |:(

  7. I can vividly imagine her vaguely reporting the events of the party that she attended.

  8. Haha, now that I think about it, I’d probably make the report so detailed (about uninteresting things like the color of the floor and whatnot), that it would bore the crap out of any readers, so that they don’t have enough attention span left to spot the really interesting bits, which I would only mention fleetingly on a side note or something.
Writing is an art form, after all!

    1. These are government workers…they’re used to weeding through dry, monotonous piles of junk to find the juicy bits.

      1. When you say it like that it sounds a bit creepy, but yeah they are good at that.

    2. Chel’s probably going to put together a rather dry and not all that detailed account of all that’s happened since she met Lexx.

Vic isn’t going to be happy about his other children being in on the secret before he was clued in.

But, he’ll probably not make TOO big a deal about it. He IS one of the most level headed father figures I’ve seen in fiction.

  9. Paul Newman founded the “Hole In The Wall Gang Camp,” named after his movie. It was funded by profits from his “Newman’s Own” products. The purpose was to provide a camp for seriously sick children to attend before they had treatments and/or operations and actually had excellent medical facilities right there.

I don’t know if it still exists or still operates the same way but it wouldn’t hurt to check into it if you still need it.

  10. I know it’s not Chel’s personality, but she should totally write her report like a romance novel between herself and Lexx just to mess with Vic’s head.
