"Sometimes in ways we never expect." Chel smiled. Lexx looked at her uncertainly. "I never expected to be here … with you. I never expected to meet you or get to enjoy all of this." "I don't like the thought of just letting 'things' happen." Lexx stated mater-of-factly. The two of them started down a flight of stairs. Chel was still smiling. It made it difficult for Lexx to hold onto his dour demeanor. He really did not like 'things' that were out of his realm of control. "The things I'm talking about are the results of our decisions." Chel turned toward Lexx at the bottom of the steps. "They don't really just 'happen' out of nowhere. I don't know what's going to happen when I get home, Lexx. My parents know about you and -" Chel caught an unwelcome glance of curly blonde hair over Lexx's shoulder and went silent.
