"You're not angry with me, are you?"  Lexx peered at Chel inquiringly. "Why would I be?  You didn't do anything."  Chel smiled back at him.  It was really cute how Lexx was concerned about that.  Did she look mad? Lexx took his time, speaking truthfully.  The words came out halting and indicative of his insecurity in talking on this level.  "I am not very experienced with being 'friends'.  I was taught how to act in formal situations,… but that is not the same and it has been a long time since I,…"  He hesitated, going over the correct verbiage to use.  "… cared to be 'friendly' to anyone." "Lexx."  Chel laughed nervously, not wanting Lexx to go any further than that.  She wasn't sure where he was going.  "I'm not leaving because of anything you did."  She looked up at him and they stopped walking.  Chel had his full attention and his golden eyes were fixated on hers. "I promised my mom and dad that I would watch Kalvin and Andrea."  It hurt.  Each word pricked and worked its way into Chel's throat.  Lexx was just standing there, completely still.  Behind him, palm trees swayed in the breeze, their leaves rustling together and mixing with the sound of gentle waves breaking on the beach just a few feet away. Time seemed to stop, Chel's attention narrowing on Lexx.  She was still speaking, but at the same time studying him.  Everything about him was so perfect, at least in her eyes.  His hair was slightly messed up by the wind, but shone brightly in the natural sunlight, more than it did on the ship.  She could see the end of the ragged scar on the left side of his neck, reminding her of the rest of his body. His face was mostly untouched by scars.  There were a few small ones that she had noticed over time.  Faint lines that marred an otherwise handsome face.  It didn't matter to Chel.  She could still see more in his eyes than anyone could see on the outside. "I didn't mention anything to them about going off on an extended trip with an alien."  Chel finished her statement and then realized that she should have said it differently.  Lexx blinked and turned slightly as though embarrassed. "Alien?"  He looked hurt.  "But,…"
