Meanwhile, back on Damian’s ship, Stealth had found a nice quiet part of the garden to lay down and sulk in. She stared at the thick blades of grass in front of her and began picking at them with her claws. The previous day had not gone the way she had wanted and having a lot of condemning and angry eyes aimed at her made her more uncomfortable than she could imagine. She had been chewed out three times now by Riley, his father and a doctor. All of whom were not the least bit happy that she had kept such vital information about the twisted code from them. She took the blame unceremoniously and eventually stalked away to be by herself. Stealth had plenty of time to imagine what the other dice were saying about her and for the first time in her life, she actually cared. Her actions might have ended any chance they, and more importantly, she had of being free. “It’s not like you to be depressed, Stealth.” She didn’t look up and had been so lost in her thoughts, she had not even heard Dash approaching. Normally, none of the other dice could hope to sneak up on her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spent all day working on the next three updates. :P I'm tired. I was up late last night deciding the fate of Merle, our 13 year old, cranky, arthritic, half blind cat who has decided that it's ok to pee in the bed she sleeps in. We decided to put a bell on Arya so maybe the old cat will at LEAST stop hissing and snarling in the middle of the night. (I'm a bit afraid it's going to give Merle a target she can detect by sound... since she has attacked Vash several times recently and his collar jingles.) For now, I'm just going to wash her bedding frequently and not stress her out as she goes completely blind. We live in an apartment and it's kind of hard to contain her to one area. Need a house... so I can give a room to the old cat.. :D Cover it in plastic .... the room, not the cat. (I had to realize that I'm actually going to have to put a pet to sleep instead of them passing away on their own. I don't think medicating her into a stupor to deal with her severe anxiety at thinking something's going to kill her at every sound is fair. Neither is locking her in a soundproof room with no human contact. :/ ) - Tiff

  1. Sorry to hear about Merle. I have an old cat. She is very hissy towards the other cats, so she has a room of her own. (Fortunately I have a house). I hope Merle makes it easy on you and passes on her own. Putting a pet down is so hard. 🙁 I can tell you are a good pet parent. Hope you don’t have a hard weekend ahead of you. (Making that hard decision). 🙁

    1. She’s not to that point yet. 😉 I just tend to think of things 6-12 months in advance so I can be prepared. I can’t do it to her while she meows at me and looks directly at me, happy to see me. 😀 This is more when she’s miserable and fearful at every little thing. This is a cat that pushed herself up underneath a 150+ pound Queen Futon that was under another futon just because we MOVED to a new apartment. She refused to eat or use a litter box for a week while my hubby and I were on a vacation before Kim was born. 😀

      1. Cat doesn’t adjust to changes easily and it’s been worse the older she has gotten. Still, she’s had a good life and never gone hungry, always had good medical attention and never spent a minute outside. 😀

  2. Well all things considered, an active cat is a healthy cat in most cases. So it sounds like at least your cat has a year or two in it. Hope things are going well for you and the family.

As for the story, it’s rather interesting we’re seeing a refocus on a couple of cat’s. I still think the chapter page was a cool reference of the two faces of Drama. It’s going to be interesting to hear what’s been going through Stealth’s mind and how will that effect the interactions with one another.

  3. Ouch. I’ve done kitty stress. That’s the worst.
