"Honestly?"  Lexx asked rhetorically.  'What the deuce.  Right now is all I'm certain to have and this is what Chel wants to know.'  The alien stared at the floor for a moment, wondering why something as simple as this was so difficult.  He just had to open his mouth and reveal … 'She asked me a question…' "I want to truly live."  At first, Lexx spoke low as though the words were being dragged from his throat.  "I want to wake up in the morning in the morning in my own home, with the windows open so I can smell the sea, the plants, the land and the rain …" "I want to feel the wind and the warm sunshine.  See the colors of the sky changing every day."  Lexx took a step toward Chel who was staring at him in a slightly confused way.  He reached out to caress her cheek lightly.  "And most importantly,… I want to see you, Chel."  He smiled and Chel had no other choice than to smile back. 'What do I say to that?'  Chel sighed to herself, closing her eyes and grateful that he wasn't angry.  She placed her hand on top of Lexx's, but could already feel him pulling it back.
