Half an hour later, Chel was sitting in her room with Lisaan quickly curling her hair. She along with a concerned Stealth had followed her. Chel had pushed a flood of unwanted thoughts out of her mind by distracting herself with changing her dress into the one that Damian had left on her bed. Lisaan had offered to do something with her hair, which was another welcome distraction and delay.
"I wonder if Lexx is going to tell me what happened. I'm really worried." Sitting quietly, Chel's eyes drifted to a corner of the room that was not filled with ornately decorated boxes.
"Almost done, Chel ... you look lovely." Lisaan cheerfully spoke without expecting an actual conversation as her quick hands let mound after mound of curls drop out of perfectly straight hands. She had the aid of a small alien hair tool, which made the job go faster than simply brushing Chel's hair.
"We might as well all be humiliated in curls." Stealth purred resting her head on Chel's lap.
"Thank you, Lisaan." Chel smiled as one last bunch of ringlets fell against her neck. Lisaan put the tool away while Chel took a moment to smooth her dress and make one final check of how it looked. It was a very soft dark blue dress with bare shoulders and a few extra pieces of jewelry. Like the previous dress, it was far more than Chel was accustomed to. She glanced at Lisaan and her dress. It was a very simple offcolor purple dress.
"We should trade. This is too fancy for me!" Chel offered with a grin.
"We should? But ... Damian gave it to me." Lisaan protested, her cheeks flushing red. "It's the first time I've been given ... anything."
"Really?" Chel blinked in surprise. Lisaan was very thin, but in Chel's eyes, would probably look better in her dress than in the one she was wearing. Now that she thought about it, Lisaan was wearing minimal makeup, even though she had very neatly touched up Chel's makeup and obviously knew how to apply it. It was almost as though Lisaan was trying her hardest to not appear attractive.
