"Relays are going around that the ADC is going to issue a Gauntlet on you, Lexx."  Saign stated. "Gauntlet?"  Lexx shivered slightly, goose bumps rising along his arms.  Gauntlet?  Did he just hear her correctly.  "They've only held two before, at the start of the game.  I thought it was dropped due to the danger.  Both dice died,.. and took out Master players with them."  As part of his education, Lexx had studied the full history of the game, including various modules that had been attempted and found too dangerous to put into active gaming. "I remember that,"  Claudia suddenly went quiet, her violet eyes widening in horror.  "The situation was so bad for them that they attacked the players instead of their actual opponents.  Gauntlets were dropped after the second one killed ten attending players."  The Kourwine cast a worried look in Lexx's direction, wondering what would happen if it came down to such an event being called on Lexx. In the gauntlet situation, there was no way out.  You had to fight continuously, with very little time to rest in between fights to heal properly.  It had really messed up the first to participants physically and mentally to the point that they didn't even consider giving up.  They were trapped and reacted like trapped animals, taking out their pain and frustration on the true cause of their situation,… the master players in charge of the dice. "Twenty-four hours of continuous opponents.  One hour to two hours average per battle,.. half an hour of rest for every two hours of battle.  That's anywhere from nine to eighteen matches, possibly more.  How could anyone stand up to that?!"  Lexx was already doing the calculations, his thoughts reeling at the prospect of being forced into that position.
