"Kip was a gift." Chel watched as her mother poked Kip. "He's kind of like a PDA with A.I. He records everything he sees and hears."
"Amazing..." Mel stared intently at Kip, watching him react to her probing.
"Where did you - how?!" Vic could barely say anything. He was flustered by Chel's announcement,... even though this had been what he wanted. Wasn't it? He had wanted her to tell them what was going on, but not like this.
"Dad..." Chel smiled and tried to get his attention away from Kip.

obviously he didn’t want it to happen like this. he doesn’t have the psychological edge and he was totally caught with his pants down.
