“Shouldn’t Lexx be involved in conversations about his future?” Chel dropped her left hand to her hip and gestured wildly with her right.
“I believe they don’t want to distract him from the battle by discussing the possibility of his loss.”
Chel gave Maelinn a long look. She looked concerned and a little frustrated. Maelinn was just the messenger. Chel could see that Maelinn had expected her to go along with the request without questioning it.
“No. Just No.” Chel shook her head, trying to hide her annoyance in the gesture. “I can’t plan my own future. There’s no way I’m going to try to plan Lexx’s.”

One has to ask what’s so important about Lexx’ future that it can’t wait until after the Gauntlet. Chel going off by herself to meet unspecified “people” in the middle of the Gauntlet risks being used as a hostage against Lexx.
That’s not the worst thing that could happen to Chel either. She needs people around here she trusts and would defend her like Riley, his dad and Chel’s own parents. To say nothing of the dice bodybuards Lexx is interviewing for her at this moment.

One might ask, just how many diverging plans there ARE for Lexx right at this moment, because Riley has a plan, his father has a plan, Lexx’s plan is straightforward – survive, this group also has a plan (which Riley is a part of, so he’s in on two plans), then there’s the plan that Zaile has… oh and of course Andisel’s plan with the ADC. She has three different plans, each one resulting in no more Lexx. 😀 There’s a race to get these plans in place and keep them there.

I’d like to see Che’s parents make a plan for him. Just to have an Earth-based plan to combat the alien ones. It would be the kind of thing a father might do for his little girl.
