Drift bounced past Chel almost comically in the moonlight and on out the door. Chel blinked, her mind still clouded by sleep. She watched Drift, realizing in horror that Kip was riding on top of him,… then she heard the clatter of claws on wood.
Chel looked up to see Stealth's tails vanishing over the side of the fence. The blood drained from Chel's face as what just happened fully sank in, "They jumped the fence!! What was I thinking?!"
What you were thinking? Well, you were trying to protect the house from a clash of ferocious beasts, that’s what. But at least they’re sentient…maybe they’ll manage to behave, once they’ve cooled off…hey, one can dream, right?
