Lexx had not intended to fall asleep.  He had laid down for a few minutes to rest and relax.  His back was feeling much better, but he was drained.  It was the nanites that decided Lexx needed a nap so they could complete their work on his back and arm.  He drifted into a comforting darkness. "Drift, you just have to flap your wings!" Lexx's sleep was disturbed by a voice he thought he wouldn't hear again. 'I'm dreaming,…'  Lexx didn't move.  He wanted to keep dreaming.  Then he heard a loud thump and felt the floor vibrate.  His eyes opened a little.  He blinked, then stared across the floor at something he didn't expect.  '… no … I'm not dreaming.' Chel was sitting on the floor.  She leaned forward to scoop up a ruffled up Drift.  The little dice fluttered his wings and hooted.  Fly was sitting at Chel's side, watching with intense interest.  "That was a good try, Drift."  Chel smiled. "… Chel…"  Lexx sat up slowly as though afraid that he might startle Chel and she might run away.  Or she might not really be there at all.  His vision was slightly blurred from sleep. "Good morning, Lexx,"  greeted Chel.  She was still smiling.  She wasn't upset.  She wasn't frowning.  She was smiling.
