Chel veered off the path after only a few steps and ran to the wooden rack that was sitting next to it. On it, were propped several long spears. She wasn’t sure if they were ornamental or real, but even an ornament could do something if thrown with enough force. Chel grabbed the first one and found it heavy, almost too heavy for her to lift, but she managed it in two hands. Then she turned back to Trasik
Stealth stared after her incredulously. She knew what was about to happen, but the other four didn’t seem aware. They were fixated on Lexx and Trasik, that was, until Riley snapped out of it. He opened his mouth to yell for Chel to stop and lunged forward. He could stop her! She wasn’t that far down the path.

Ok, it’s about to go Pear shaped. Don’t know how but it is.
Also, I don’t know why, but I suspect Trasik broke a rule when she had those slavers kidnap Chel. Something along the lines of “Game interference” having to do with a player’s native guide that is under contract. Anyone remember that contract back when Maenae was introduced?

The rule Traski broke was not with the game rules but with rules of Earth’s protection. Earth is protected from ‘visitors’ taking the people of earth. If I am correct the alien dice players, legally, were on a fine line because they came to Earth, a protected planet, and played their game. Traski kidnapped one of the protected inhabitants… that was the rule she broke.
Really Chel in my opinion if she killed Traski should only get a slap on the wrist and told “next time use a gun.” 😛

I don’t know… I think someone not related to the game killing someone else who is only a player and not a die themselves would still count as murder…

Traski seems to have stomped on a lot of rules to just get this challenge. That may save Le’s bacon and current game.
But then the Gauntlet is probably going to be very much like this. I wonder if Chel is really doing Lex a favor going for the spear. She could challenge Traski’s claim over Lex false by illegal actions taken.

You also have to remember that Trasik’s actions, rule breaking or not, lead to an outcome the Commission wants – and that corrupt law enforcement enforces selectively. Unless the failure to enforce the rules is so flagrant that the player community at large objects, nothing can save Lexx’s bacon at this moment.
I wonder what the Dice EULA says about dice ownership when the original owner is dead? And if a person of a protected planet can be charged with a crime like a normal galactic citizen, or they receive a consideration like we give to juveniles in the US legal system?

Under circumstances of how much they got away with already, Lex might not get out of this immediately. He might have to be Trasik’s slave for a while, while others get the ruling overturned.
That probably won’t do much more then set Lex back to where he was just before she kidnapped Chel. Though I do wonder if Lex has enough of a fan base to push the law, that is hire then AD stooges, to act?
This is definitely one of those moments that Lex is in a whole lot of trouble. But it’s also sounds like Trasik is trying to get a spoken acknowledgment from Lex. There’s also been hints that there is something in Lex that makes him dangerous in the later levels. Maybe this fight isn’t as over as the injuries hint at. But then is that necessarily a good thing of what vaguely has been hinted by Stealth and I think Riley?

This all went sideways the minute Trasik sent someone to kidnap a navie Earther. Chel picking up a heavy, sharp object has just sent things into the pear shaped zone. Chel actually skewering Trasik using said pointy object will send things into the Twilight Zone.

I wonder if the circumstances surrounding this fight made Chel officially part of the duel? Kind of a “tag team”? We really only get to know specific rules piecemeal in this comic, so maybe maybe?
