“Damian, escort them back to their level.”  Riley glanced in the sairah’s general direction. “I don’t want to go.”  Chel protested weakly.  She didn’t want to go, but thinking of reasons why were lost in her muddled thoughts. “You can come back soon, but right now, I think my father would like to yell at me.”  Riley avoided looking directly at his father as he spoke. “You wish all I want to do is yell at you, Riley.”  Kade growled, starring daggers at his son.

        How does that make him in trouble?

          It doesn’t. Had Riley not tried to hide his plan of sneaking in to get Chel out quietly from Lexx, Lexx would have never issued the challenge. Which means Lexx wouldn’t have even been in the duel nor close enough to the fake Trasik to get poisoned in the first place.

          Plus, it’s also been mentioned that Riley has been leaning on his father’s contacts to help Lexx escape the ADC.

          Yeah. I mean, I had a feeling that Riley’s habit of manipulating the people around him – however well intentioned – was going to blow up in his face eventually. I just wish Lexx and Chel hadn’t been in the crossfire…

    I can see the wheels turnings in Vic’s head. I can’t remember the author, but I read a good story about a medieval man transported to the 21st century. The technology was “magic” to him, but he easily learned how to use it, and his understanding of politics and human nature is what saved the day in the end.
