Day 26 Part 4 Pg 7

“What about my sister and the other rishan?”  Lexx inquired, pulling his shirt over his head.  He wriggled his wings out through the opening in the back, glad to be wearing fabric that he was used to. “They have already gone through quarantine.”  Mel kept her back turned, offering Lexx a little privacy, even though he had not asked for it.  “”Be patient.” “Do we have to do this?”  Lexx walked up next to Mel.  She put down her tablet to look at him.  “Why does anyone need all this information?  It’s useless.” “Because humans are curious.”  Mel smiled.  “We want to know what separates you from us.”

  1. All things considered, Lexx is handling this amazingly well.

Since imp was deleted, Lexx seems to be handling things a little bit better. But Mel’s bedside manner probably has a bit to do about it as well. Probably ten times better the treatment he received from the ADC teachers and researchers he had to deal with as a child.

  2. For the quarantine to mean anything, they need an expendable volunteer, who *hasn’t* been space travelling, to spend the quarantine time with the arrivals. If the volunteer doesn’t get sick, then you have some confidence the general population won’t immediately show alien virus symptoms.

    1. They’re easier to draw if they’re ALL in hazmat suits! 😉 While the humans are good indicators on if they caught anything who are already there, I’ll be sure to put in an unsuited human as well as a control.

  3. Random thought about today’s text. I know is is hard, if not impossible, to use most tablets while wearing gloves. Doing so in a Hazmat suit is probably equally hard. I hope they thought far enough ahead to provide the staff with a capacitive stylus to use with it. And just WHY does she have her back turned? Is she playing Angry Birds or something?

And why are they being so paranoid about alien critter germs now? Don’t they already know there is a whole island that has been home to them for some time? (And some newly hatched additions)

    1. They ARE using styluses. 😀 With little cords on them. Who knows what she’s entering, but she probably doesn’t like people looking at what she’s doing like most people. 😉

The rest is answered a bit later.

  4. Aaand what separates human and rishan? Not as much as you’d think…

  5. Another idea. Humans have now been told that dice can talk. Since we have the ‘movie’ already being publicized this gives us another opportunity. Hollywood has always had a soft spot for talking animals. We give them a TV show set in a scenic tropical location where they use their special abilities to solve crime. We’ll call it “Miami Dice”!

  6. “We want to know what separates you from us.”

And Lexx answers “Plexiglass and funny white suits.”

    1. “A bit of genetic tampering and some technology.” 😉

  7. Lexx: At the moment, a white bunny suit…have you got any idea how silly that thing makes you look?

    1. Yes, yes I do. It’s uncomfortable too.

  8. I just recently found this comic, and just finished reading through the archives. I must say; excellent comic. One thing that’s been on my mind for a while, though…with Epsy and Zeta. Did you, by any chance, name them after the Greek letters Epsilon (ε) and Zeta (ζ)?

  9. Wee bit late for an effective quarantine. If any communicable diseases were carried by Lexx and/or the dice, half of Chel’s hometown could be infected by this point, probably much more than that.

  10. The reverse is true as well, if Lexx was going to succumb to the more common diseases native to Earth he would have already

    1. They’re a government agency. You think that matters?
