Day 26 Part 5 Page 07

Seeing there were not any more eggs, Swiftpaw dropped out of the air and landed lightly on Keith’s shoulders. He squirmed happily until he had slid his hind legs over Keith’s left shoulder and forelegs over the left. Keith leaned forward slightly, using his hands to help Swiftpaw stay on his shoulders. “Better than a dog. Swiftpaw understands me.” Keith scratched under the fox’s chin, ignoring the burning glare Chel was shooting his way, “If he wants, when this is over, I want to take care of him.” “I’d like that.” Swiftpaw leaned his chin into Keith’s hand, enjoying the attention thoroughly.

  1. I’d assume a lot of Lexx’s dice are hoping for better days after Lexx wins.

I’d assume the dice all have their own idea’s of an improved life style.

  2. I think Lexx is going to have quite a bit harder time trying to keep his dice loyal to /him/ and not to the people all around him. O.o It wasn’t an issue when everyone around him was worse than Lexx, but now, everyone is starting to promise things that Lexx hadn’t thought possible before.

  3. Chel: Hmph! And what are you going to do? Have him catch frisbees?

Swiftpaw: What’s a frisbee? Sounds like fun!

    A secure location, outside…

Swiftpaw: Wheeeeee! He swoops down on the helpless frisbee! *CHOMP* ‘nd ‘urn… ‘nd return! Wheee! Throw it again! This is fun!

Chel: *sigh* I still don’t think this is good…

Lexx: I agree – he should be able to handle more targets in the air at once. And we ought to get the rest of the fliers involved – teamwork and collision avoidance are very important. Got any more of those disk things?

Mel: Right here! This is going to make a great study! Fun, too! <3 Come on, Vic!

Swiftpaw: Wheee! *CHOMP* *CHOMP* 'oo a' 'unce! *ptoo* More! Being a pet is GREAT!

    1. I love this idea. Wait until they visit the firing range, and Lexx shows his stuff.

  4. No.
    Swiftpaw is mine. >:I

    Cute comic today.

  5. Chel isn’t looking too impressed. lol!

  6. Eggs AND chin scratches?! Yeah Swift is sold on the idea lol.

Oh and epic “not amused” look from Chel. 😀

    1. Like her father. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  7. I don’t think Keith has entirely grasped the full ramifications of taking on responsibility for Swiftpaw. It’s more than he’s not just a dog, he is sentient and a juvenile.

Taking care of Swiftpaw is going to be more akin to adopting a four-year-old who can fly, than it is having a talking dog for a pet. He’s not going to able to just “take care” of him; he would need to raise him too.

    1. Semi sentient at any rate. The comparison to a hyper-intelligent dog is feasible. At least most of the dice in reality are not much more than the animals they bonded with. That four year old who can fly is never going to mentally grow up by any significant amount.

There are a few of the dice that might be exceptions, but we’d need an updated objective standard to judge that.

  8. You say that now, but wait until he rolls to his top side and gets huge…

  9. Slight problem, the text reads: He squirmed happily until he had slid his hind legs over Keith’s left shoulder and forelegs over the left.

The forelegs would be over the right shoulder.
