Far above the earth aboard his ship, Riley was receiving some bad news of his own.
“What do you mean you haven’t seen Maenae since we left? She wasn’t on Damian’s ship.” Riley waved his arms in the air wildly at Torin, who had been watching Maenae.
“We’ve looked everywhere.” Torin spoke in a voice clipped with panic. “She’s not on this ship.”
“We have to figure out where she went!”
“We’ve looked everywhere!”
Riley paused for a moment, his face distorting in terror at a thought concerning the current circumstances. “What if the ADC kidnapped her and has her entered into the gauntlet?!”

Also, surely Maenae would be very difficult to keep contained, considering her abilities.
