“Ship, where is the child, Maenae?” Torin had said the ship didn’t know where Maenae was, but Riley still asked to make sure.
“Child, Maenae, is not on the ship.” A crisp voice responded across Riley’s relay. Riley scowled, looking around the room again. She was not here. She was not on the ship. That meant she had been removed from the ship or had managed to bypass the ship’s security and used a door to get to Earth or another ship. She had managed this before.
