Mel and Vic rushed to Chill’s location. She was standing in front of a ten foot tall golden orange wall of energy. It undulated in the air and along the grass, lighting up the vicinity with a soft glow. Chill was standing a few feet in front of it, just staring at it with a delighted grin on her face.
“Do we go in?” Chill inquired eagerly as Vic stopped beside her.
“Not sure.” Vic studied the door for a moment. He had assumed that somehow they were being watched, hopefully by Lexx’s friends and not anyone else. The thought did enter his mind that this might not be a door he wanted to step through and it would be better to wait for someone to step through.
Mel came to a stop a step past Vic. She didn’t say anything.

This situation reminds me of something else, in another setting. I think it was the tomb of horrors.

Easy way to check out what’s on the other side:
– find long stick
– attach cell phone to end of stick (tape, wad of gum, or maybe ice)
– start video recording
– push stick halfway through
– retrieve stick and review video
If all you get back is half a stick, be glad it wasn’t your arm.

Or just start with just stick. Cell phones are expensive.

If the stick comes out okay, try a stick with a wristwatch on the end. You have to be sure it’s safe, so use the cheap digital watch first. Find a squirrel and affix it to the stick, to ensure flesh is safe.
