'It was an accident. None of the dice, not even that monster who snagged me, wanted to hurt me. It was an accident.' Chel went over the situation in her mind as the doctor pulled the curtain closed around their little makeshift examining room and left.
'That last challenger used me to get at Lexx. It's dangerous for me to be with him … to both of us. And then the more frustrating of the realizations came, 'Ohhhh … and Mom and Dad are GOING to hear about this one. There's no way I'm going to get away without them asking for details on how I got hurt … I … will have to tell them about Lexx and everything. I can't lie to my parents about this … at least I can trust them. Maybe they will understand.' Chel worried her lower lip, squinting back tears.
She was terrified of having to tell her parents. This was completely unknown territory and there was no way to know how they would react. How does a person react when they find out that their child, even if she is pretty much an adult, has been spending time with an alien? Chel was going to have to figure out the best way to break it to them in the meantime.
Chel wasn't really afraid of her parents, more of what would happen if they told her to stay away from Lexx. She just couldn't.
