]]> http://aliendice.com/blog/2013/05/22/day-26-part-4-pg-1-2/feed/ 7 Tornado Watch http://aliendice.com/blog/2013/05/21/tornado-watch/ http://aliendice.com/blog/2013/05/21/tornado-watch/#comments Tue, 21 May 2013 16:59:11 +0000 Tiff http://aliendice.com/?p=5456 Just a little note, I’ve been trying to ink a single page of Alien Dice for two days now.  Tornados yesterday were not nearby, but there was a possibility.  TODAY, however, we have the possibility and a strong set of storms coming through between noon and 3 pm, more likely 1 for my area.  So I’ve been on edge all morning and not been making much progress … other than to set up a secure area for the pets and make arrangements to go elsewhere.  It’s so serious (likely also because of yesterday’s OK tornados) that there are schools releasing their students now, because the storms will be hitting when students are getting ready to leave.  Kim’s hasn’t sent out a notice and she’s safer there than in our second floor apartment.  I’m probably going to have to scrap my work today and play catchup, because I don’t want to waste a vacation day on stupid tornado watches. :(   I’m just a wreck when they start issuing them.  I’ve been through an F5/F4, before they revised the scale.  Do NOT WANT a REPEAT PERFORMANCE!!!

Chel shivered as she stood in front of a large viewing window that looked out over the Earth.  Silently it hung against the backdrop of space, looking small from where Chel stood.  It looked cold and foreign from this side of the atmosphere.

Home. It’s not going to be the same.  Chel mused to herself.     I get to go home to Earth, but I do not get to go to my room or my house, my town … my life as it was.  The realization of just how much her life was going to change fully hit home.  There was not going to be anything normal about life now.

Kalvin and Andrea had already been sent away to their grandparents country home in another state and Chel knew Andrea would be the first to blame her for taking her away from her friends.  Kalvin might be a little angry, but he didn’t mind moving around as much as Andrea did.  Chel was used to it.

But this?  This was entirely new.  For the first time in her life, she knew everything that was about to go on was more important than she wanted it to be.  What had begun as an impulsive decision was now having life changing consequences for thousands of people, not just herself.  She was going to be responsible for Lexx and to him.  It was going to be a hard position to maintain.

Update: May 19th – It’s Sunday evening and I’m posting this.. why?  Because I have at least an hour left on the AD comic to complete it and upload it.  This will be done first thing in the morning on Monday!  Yes, last week was VERY busy with convention stuff and this weekend was hectic, so that the ONLY comic I even worked on was AD.  :(   My next convention is NOT until October when I do Fan Days in Irving.

And now I have something to share.  Kim began reading my comic books over the weekend. :P   When she got to Alien Dice, she read the first one… the big one with text, THEN read the SECOND ONE, THEN asked me for the third book. :P :P   You know, the one I don’t have.  Then she gave me a really big pouty face because there wasn’t one.  Later I was informed that it was her favorite story of all of mine.  She’s 9.  I don’t think she should be reading them. :P :P   But it’s a little more difficult to tell your daughter that they can’t read a book YOU wrote and that it might be a little inappropriate for the as it goes along.  I’ve got my husband trying to get me to relinquish and let her go watch Star Trek. :D
