Lexx held back. He clenched his fists, waiting for his opponent to take advantage of his loose stance, but it didn’t. Lexx stood quietly, staring at the dice with an increasingly vacant look on his face. Sparks fragmented his thoughts and he wasn’t pulling them together easily. His body was changing again and he was only dimly aware of bone splitting at the top of his wings leaving him with two hooked fingers.
His left arm hurt more intensely as the new muscles were fully built up, much faster than would ever occur naturally. It would be stiff once it was complete and would likely hurt terribly following this fight, but he had to go on.
The dice suddenly turned tail and fled as quickly as it could.
Lexx lifted his right arm. Purple globes of light encircled it.
“Stop it, Lexx!” Riley ran into the arena to intervene. He waved his arms wildly and the creature ran behind him. “Kinral has had enough!”
“Then bring me another dice.” Lexx snapped.
