Chel’s focus wavered. She felt a need to do something, but what? Maybe … I should follow her. I followed Lexx. Maybe I shouldn’t be so pushy and let her have her space. Pushing Lexx before she knew more about the situation had never had good results in the past. It was better to respect his desires and in this case, it was likely a good idea to not push Karmine until she was more comfortable with Chel. She’s so much like Lexx. She has the exact same look in her eyes I have seen in his. There was hope. Lexx had been more guarded. Karmine had broken quickly and let Chel see her. Chel blinked as a bit of white fluff drifted into her peripheral vision. She glanced back to see large dandelion seeds floating past her shoulder. Then, something bumped against her leg. Chel couldn’t help but smile as her gaze drifted down to Pitrea’s cherubic face and wide innocent eyes peering over a bunch of dandelion puffballs she was holding up to Chel. For now, it was better to stay here with the three kids who were receptive. She could learn more about their situation and maybe … a way to get them out of it along with herself.
