It is, isn’t it? Chel felt a sudden sharp sensation in her stomach. Emotions twisted and gnawed with a deepening darkness of realization.
“Tell him when he wins.” Lessa touched Chel’s shoulder with her damaged hand, breaking her out of the dark emotions for the moment. “Tell him he has a home to come to.” Lessa smiled weakly.
“Yes, Ma’am.” Chel whispered. Caillem trotted past her and waited for her in the doorway. There were no good byes as Chel left.
