“Your people are weird,…” Lexx sat up and grumbled as Riley stood and allowed him to. “Maybe.” Riley smiled sincerely. “But we do care. I’ll leave you alone now.” His voice carried with it a very slight touch of hurt that Lexx was being so disagreeable. Then, Riley vanished as quickly and discreetly as he’d arrived. Lexx sat in his thoughts, alone. He was slightly sad to see Riley go. ‘He’s the only ‘family’ I have,…’ Lexx mused, blinking quickly, a mist veiling his eyes. ‘He’s never let me down,… never where he could help. Riley doesn’t make sense in half of what he says,.. he’s messing with my mind. What was that about soul mates? Soul mates,… meant to be?’ And then, the rishan’s train of thought shifted, ‘I’ve never met anyone that makes me feel like I do about Chel,.. nowhere near it. I can’t even describe it to myself other than,.. good.’ There was a light in his soul. Lexx was aware of it growing and showing him things he didn’t want to see. There was also someone else there. Someone hiding in his thoughts. Someone new. He didn’t know them, yet he did. While he had been in a half dream state, he’d searched for the presence, but even his own mind was a vast labyrinth that at times could be un-navigateable.

  1. In the words of the Starkids: And the way I feel around you is so much better than the way I feel when I’m not around you.
The most important thing I learned from the Starkids: You never tell girl you like her, it just makes you look like an idiot.
