Hours later, Damian’s ship continued through space on its course back to Earth and with everyone entering a nocturnal cycle. Nonessential crew members were resting while a new shift of technicians and people necessary to run the ship came in and relieved the previous shift’s crew. The medical bay also rotated, but with very few patients, only a few doctors were present.
Lexx’s room was closed off to all visitors and he had been sleeping for hours with Stealth present the entire time.
The doctors had worked around the large cat who insisted on sitting in one of the corners near the bed. She wasn’t really in the way, but she made them nervous with how she watched everything they did. At one point, they sent for Riley, hoping he would do something to make her leave, but after a brief chat with her, he shrugged and told the doctors to make her comfortable.
Now, the large feline dice was stretched out on a thin cushion near the bed, sleeping lightly while no-one was in the room and the lights had been dimmed. Watching over Lexx was exhausting and dull. Even his subconscious had eventually slipped into the nothingness of deep sleep, leaving Stealth to her own thoughts.
But it would not be that way much longer. Lexx’s eyelids twitched, then slowly slid open revealing the white of his eyes and dilated pupils that were not yet responding to the dim light in the room.

I’m reminded of the really creepy music that accompanied Legato Bluesummer at points in Trigun.
I suspect that Lexx’ dark side/programming glitch is involved, and fear having that confirmed.
