“It’s not how things work, Mr. Reid.” Damian continued his search for the right things to say. “And I’m not in any position to do anything about it.”
“People are dying on Earth because of your game.” Victor pressed his fists down against the table, suppressing the urge to bang them up and down on it with each word.
“It’s not my game.” Damian shook his head and waved one hand as though trying to get that statement dismissed.
“You’re playing it on our planet.” Vic snapped at Damian.
“Yes, but we are not killing people.” Damian replied in a helpless tone. The accusation was a sharp one, that cut deeply. Damian would never dream of hurting another person, on purpose or by accident.
