Then, Lexx felt a familiar surge of energy. The elephants withdrew a few steps, their ears flared and trunks raised as they continued to trumpet their agitation. Sparkles of light from the nanos moving into action rippled over Lexx's body. Slivers of pain from his wings exploded as piercing blasts of light through his head. His wings were being refined, shortening and compacting in some areas, lengthening in others. They would be a little bit shorter than they were, but lighter and less bulky. Similar pain was felt throughout Lexx's body. The only part of him that didn't hurt was his head. For a brief moment, his scalp tingled and bits of hair floated through the air around his head. It was quickly replaced by longer hair, wavy and a dark purple in shade along the back, gold along the right side of his forehead.
"Go away! Get back!" Lexx shouted in a moment of clarity, summoning up enough mental stability to draw up an impressive array of lights.
It didn't work. The largest of the elephants turned and fanned his ears violently, sending out an ear shattering bellow as he charged at Lexx.
