Lexx leaned forward as the huge dice’s head slowed in an overly controlled manner behind him. He felt a rush of air as her jaws snapped shut, dozens of teeth sliding against each other perfectly in place. Everything seemed to be happening so slowly that Lexx missed Skate’s right forelimb lifting until it slammed down next to him. The floor vibrated with an echoing TOOM! Lexx staggered a step backward, cupping his wings in an effort to keep his balance.
Then, he caught a blur of crimson color out of the corner of his eye.
