Epsy's concentration was shattered. She swung her head around to look in the direction of the sounds. Energy, Swiftpaw and Drift shrank back in the shadows. Epsy had looked in their direction and saw them.
She ignored them. They had been there for awhile and she had seen them. She recognized them and had let them stay as long as they had stayed back.
"What is it?!"
"Who would dare-"
Energy lifted his head and crept forward. A flash of lightening illuminated the clearing. Lexx emerged from the trees and strode forward. "It's Lexx!!" Energy inhaled sharply. This was not going to be good. He could see the club in his hands and immediately knew what he intended to do. Energy growled to himself at Lexx's stupidity. Then he turned and vanished into the undergrowth, leaving Drift and Swiftpaw to watch the scene unfold.
Epsy whirled around, careful of her eggs. They would be fine without her standing over them. The rain was warm and her eggs would do well with the added moisture. The large dice moved heavily to the outlaying rocks. She perched on them and faced Lexx. She had also seen the club.
Epsy growled. She swayed slowly, keeping her head even with Lexx's. She gulped several times, causing her neck to expand in full defensive mode. Epsy did not want to attack, but something about Lexx's approach overrode her normal nature.
Lexx moved with purpose and authority. She would listen to him, because he was her master. She would.
"Epsy, move aside." Lexx issued the command forcefully. Epsy stared at him through narrowed turquoise eyes.
He took another step forward. Epsy wasn't listening. She lifted her head and opened her jaws further, showing off the two matching rows of needle pointed white teeth.
