"Why?" She had to ask.
"Why?" Lexx repeated, waiting for clarification.
"They're your friends." Chel pointed out.
"They say they are, but they will leave."
"That's part of life. Life is all about changes. You deal with them and move on." Chel wanted to help. She really did.
"It hurts too much to be alone." Lexx replied as though he had not even given the statement any thought.
"Lexx, you're the reason you're alone."
"No it's everyone else."
Lexx's persistence in that mindset was annoying. He was the one keeping everyone away, yet he blamed everyone else. It dawned on Chel that Damian and Claudia were both oblivious to Lexx's efforts to keep them away. They simply didn't care. Maenae was too young to see it and Riley,… they were brothers.

It is so true people think they have to do things all alone but they don’t. They had the choice of dealing with less then reputable people. They had the choice of going down other paths and being with other people.
They just allow it to spiral out of control.

Most oeopke. Lexx was repeatedly abused and harmed by those he was supposed to be able to trust. Family, caretakers, women. Damian and Claudia are always wanting something from him, sure. But Riley wants to help, as does Chel. Maenae just wants Kexx. She doesn’t seem to have any ulterior motives.
