“Oh… my!” Maelinn gasped in clear alarm. “I’ve never seen a ship like that.” “I have…” Vic walked up behind the two. “You have?!” Chel stared at the massive ship, awed by its size. The ship they were on was large, she knew it, but this other ship appeared to be at least a mile in size from one side to the other. “On Earth, yes.” Vic nodded slowly. “X-files?” Chel inquired without looking at her father, referring to his work. “I believe.” Vic leaned forward to stare at the ship. “Dad!!” Chel rolled her eyes in annoyance at the somewhat joking reference in light of the current situation.

  1. Hey now, if Men in Black was real, then X-Files is real too! 😀 That technically is what his job is. >_>

Now I can’t guess who’s ship that is. Either AD Corp’s mega-ship, or it belongs to the Nano-machine makers.

  2. It took me a minute to read the bubbles in the correct order.

Keith just gained a level in Geek with me. XD

    1. Yeah, they’re not in the most logical order.

      1. They’re in logical order. You’re supposed to read dialog bubbles in exactly the same alignment as a book. 😛 Left to right, across the top and down. Not just left to right.

        1. My eye was drawn to the left most bubble first though, It doesn’t seem significantly lower than Victors at first glance, so I took a moment to look back and see if I missed something before realizing I just got them in the wrong order.

        2. Standard for comics/manga is left to right, top to bottom.

        3. That is to say, starting at the left (left to right first, then top to bottom, in order of priority). You started on the right, but the eye automatically goes to the top-left balloon, even though it’s not the highest.

    2. Also, that’s Victor, not Keith.

  3. geek levels or not, it’s still a “Da-ad!” moment.

    Stop embarassing the kid, Victor.

    1. I was a little afraid nobody would get it. 😀

      1. No, I think we get it. And I’m pretty sure we all find it hilarious too!

Vic probably needed to blow off a little steam, so I’m glad he hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

  4. I just want to mention that Victor is one of my favorite characters. He’s very well written. It’s got to be difficult to get the reader to sympathize with him, because plot-wise he’s… not an antagonist, but he goes against what we want for Chel and Lexx. And yet, it’s very easy to understand his concerns as Chel’s parent, and sometimes you’ve just got to agree with him. So kudos for impressive writing!

    1. I like how Vic sort of juggles his responsibilities as a parent and as an agent.

He isn’t just here to watch over his daughter, but gather information. From what has been shown to him thus far, he’s probably gathered a lot of intelligence, but he’s probably had less cooperation to get it then he would have liked.

Not only that, but he’s been well written into the story so the story progresses nicely while we take focus onto him while he learns different things about this new world he’s learning about.

His very comment is funny in a way because, here he is learning the truth about the aliens just like the agents in X-Files. But even while he walks with the aliens, he’s still forced to gather most of his own information about them as by his own gut and observations because they won’t communicate with him any easier than they did with Mulder. To top it all off, these aren’t aliens abducting humans for some vague purpose, their rich kids playing games while treating there planet like some backwoods vacation spot.

He is a very well thought out character.

      1. Indeed!

Vic’s also a Reasonable Authority Figure, which means that everything will go a bit easier for Lexx and Chel once they get a chance to sit down and talk it out.

        1. You read TV Tropes, don’t you?

        2. Yes. Yes I do.

TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Vocabulary and TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life apply. Though, not as much lately.

  5. He believes!

Funny…Been a while since I watched X-files. Made me smile.

Though I’m waiting for one of the government agent’s to finally state, “Oh great, Alien Nation, X-files and Pokemon, all meet one another in space!”.

It’s going to be interesting when Vic gets back to make his report. ^^

    1. If he wants to stay out of the booby hatch, I’d recommend to him he skip a lot of this stuff….heh.

  6. Heh, Heh, well done there Tiffany! You nicely added a pleasant bit of levity to a somber situation.

And yes I do keep up with all of your work! Even if that is all I can do these days 🙁 .
