"Only they talk and seem to think just like any human." Chel considered. "They can turn on you at any-" "Boo." Chel's thoughts were broken by a flash of lightening outside and the sudden appearance of a large head with great bulbous eyes and a mouth filled with pointy white teeth. Fly's fur poofed out in surprise and he bounced off of Chel's head and back into the main room. Chel opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came out. Her throat felt tight and all she could do was gasp for air. Energy recoiled in surprise. "Energy!" Chel caught her breath after a moment. "Why did you do that!" "I didn't mean to frighten you that much." Energy lowered his head so that he was looking up at Chel. "It's okay," Chel smiled patting her chest. Her heart was racing. Again. "It's just ... you really are a dragon, you know?" "I would never hurt you." Energy chirped. "Neither would Epsy ..." Chel muttered. She immediately regretted it. It wasn't what she really wanted to say to Energy. He didn't deserve it. "Lexx should have known better." Energy's tone turned serious. "We did. That was not Epsy. We all have our primal sides, but we also give warnings. Sometimes a bit more than those considered 'sentient'. We consider the costs of taking such actions." Chel stared at the dragon. His blue eyes were pools of clear emotion, conveying a deep empathy for the previous night's events. Chel wanted to wrap her arms around him and bury her face in his thick blue fur, just to have something to cry on.

  1. We need a “heart attack counter” for each character in this story lol.
