Chel walked across the dining room quickly, cringing at Energy's footsteps behind her. His claws were catching in the carpet and making a slight dragging sound. She didn't want to show him to her parents before she could say something.
"Mom? Dad? You didn't ..." She held up her hand to stop Energy before walking into the door to the living room.
Chel trailed off, caught completely caught offguard. Her parents were not alone. There were two other people in the living room. People she did not recognize. Chel's mind went blank. Now what was she going to say? Who were these people and more importantly, what was she going to do about Energy.
"Didn't what?" Chel's mother inquired, breaking the silence.
"Er ... we have guests ..." Chel stalled.
