Stealth slowly padded down the halls of the island hideaway. There was little to do until Chel returned. Lexx was too grumpy to be around and was busy glaring at Zaile, who was still there. Stealth wasn’t fully sure why the other Rishan was there, but felt it best to avoid him for the time being. Fly had invited himself along and was sitting on her back.
“The new humans don’t seem so bad. Keith is nice.” Fly chittered.
“Chel is the only important one.” Stealth growled and shook her head. Fly clung to Stealth’s mane and opened his mouth to say something more, but stopped. Stealth had stopped walking.
The winged lioness flicked her ears forward, head up listening intently to the echoes coming from the hallway. Something was clicking.
“What is it?” Fly whispered nestling down into Stealth’s hair.
“I have no idea.” Stealth whispered back trying to figure out what the sound was. Obviously, it was claws. Small claws hitting the stone floor. But none of the dice on the island sounded like that in the halls. This was something very light … on two legs …
Stealth backed into a doorway just off the hall and listened. The clicking was getting close fast. Stealth crouched and swished her tails. Whatever it was … was going to get a nasty surprise the moment it passed by her. She waited.
Further down the hall a large ball of white dust suddenly appeared, followed close behind by an echoing scream of rage. Perplexed, Stealth stood back up and stared at the ball of dust as it raced toward her.
Then, Lisaan appeared from the same hall the dust came from. She was yelling at the top of her lungs and swinging a broom about wildly. The ball of dust darted past Stealth and she could just barely make out the form of some speedy gold and blue blur before sneezing on the dust.
Stealth sneezed repeatedly on what she quickly recognized as flour before looking up again in time to see Lisaan run by her in close pursuit of the fleeing creature.
