It wasn’t the right thing to say. “Lexx.” Chel took a deep breath, clearing her head of the cluttered thoughts. “I would appreciate it if you would not talk about my chest. It’s embarrassing.” Lexx opened his eyes to look at her seriously. He resisted the urge to squirm, his movements a little jerky with anxiety. This wasn’t a situation he had ever been in, nor had he ever thought he’d be in. His words spilled out uncontrollably. “But they look fine. You look fine. There’s nothing wrong with the way you look. Nothing that needs to be fixed. Riley didn’t make that comment to be mean, … the females of his species have breasts just like humans,… just four instead of two. They’re usually close to the same size and Riley just-“ Lexx was rambling in a panic now, stating everything that came to mind in some hope that he’d make Chel understand that he wasn’t being offensive. “I don’t care, Lexx!” Chel snapped, cutting him off. “…” Lexx fell silent, just looking at her with a hurt confused expression. “Can I go back to the ship?” She quickly changed the subject, really just wanting to be alone. “No.” Lexx shook his head. “I have a set of rooms here. I had Riley take Maenae, Stealth and Zeta to them. More room than on the ship and if you want to be alone,” Lexx had skimmed the surface of Chel’s thoughts, so desperately wanting to know what it was that she wanted. “You can just close the door on one of the bedrooms or the study and we won’t bother you.” Chel nodded. She felt bad about what Lexx was saying. He was really trying to be nice and at the moment, Chel didn’t feel like acknowledging it. She was angry and wanted to be angry,… by herself. Of course, there was an underlying reason for her sudden swing in emotions and that was annoying her as well. She had intended to go home for a little while, but wasn’t sure how to tell Lexx about it. There were some things you just didn’t talk about and this was one of them. Although, she was fairly sure he would understand, she just didn’t want to bring it up. “Chel?” Lexx frowned, “What did I do?” “Nothing.” Chel shrugged, giving a pat answer. “I don’t want to talk about it.” “I say that and you persist in trying to find out what I’m thinking.” Lexx pointed out. “Don’t. I’ll tell you about it later.” She sighed, wanting to end the conversation. “Let’s go…” “Ok.” Lexx nodded, still holding out the flowers. Then he smiled. “I bought these for you. I thought you would like them. They match your hair and smell nice.” Chel couldn’t help but smile, but Lexx could feel that she was still upset. She was tricky and confusing to understand, but at least she wasn’t pretending to be happy to be on his good side. Lexx hated it when people were like that around him.

  1. I just decided that this is (step four) of what all my future potential boyfriends have to live up to. An alien/human-mutant who can say “Your chest looks just fine to me” and be so sweet while saying it! XD

  2. ah i am starting to get the feeling that chel is going to need a week to herself soon >.>

    1. yeah and if that is the case I can definitely sympathize

    2. Oh god, what will Lexx (or Riley’s) reaction be? And Zeta’s? I just pray they don’t think she’s injured.

      1. Rishan women probably have the same monthly occurrence, since they’re essentially humans with blue skin and pointy ears, so Lexx should understand.

  3. Ohhhhhhhhh, I get it.

  4. Yeah, I was wondering when THAT problem would kick in. ‘Good job’ to Ms. Ross, btw. Many writers dismiss such natural things as ‘trivial’, however adding them in adds to the sense of authenticity.

  5. Why would she want to-OOOOOOooooooooohh…..

    1. What do you mean? Why she would want to go back? I don’t know. It’s only been a few days and… oh. Ooooohhhhjhhh… Oh my.
