“Our? Dad, I don’t want to be an agent!!” Chel immediately understood what her father was saying and jumped on it. She had always had complete freedom in choosing where she was going in the future. Chel had always known what she wanted to be when she grew up and her parents had always encouraged her, but now, it was obvious she wasn’t going to have that luxury any longer. “You don’t have a choice, Chel.” Victor confirmed Chel’s thoughts and gave her a sympathetic look. “Well, you did have one and you chose to chase the aliens, just like your mom and I.” He actually sounded proud as he spoke, trying to upsell the decision to his daughter, who’s face was flushed bright red in anger. “Like your grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandmother. After saying all that, I guess it’s genetic.” “I don’t like aliens.” Chel grumbled as her only defense. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's the good news, Chel: You automatically have a job paying 35K a year, housing and meals included (for the rest of your life) in a time when people your age are looking for work. Here's the bad news: You must work with aliens, work long hours, work at the whim of whatever president is in office and answer his/her stupid questions, be the face of alien contact before the nation, talk to no one outside the job (outside of special news reporters in the future) and fill out stacks of paperwork. Oh, and you don't get to finish college or choose your profession. It has been chosen for you.

  1. Their family album must be really interesting… especially the bits that haven’t been declassified yet.

  2. Heh, enjoying her life at the side of the man she cares for, who only happens to have been born on another planet is a wee bit different than spending her life as an alien chasing spook.

  3. You will like it even less when people start considering you the subject matter expert on the whole ‘Alien Dice’ thing Chel.

    1. Hehe.. oh.. that’s ripe for taking advantage of.

  4. Heh heh, technically anyone from another planet than you is an “alien” to you. Maybe Chel’s whole family is alien to earth, for generations already… *g*

  5. She has a sense of innocence that would be lost through training. While the father had to use mind tricks to keep the greys out, Chel did not NEED to have any because it was a positive factor for them to be able to read her. I think recruiting her would be a mistake on many levels for Vic’s organization.

Earth at this point stands at a very odd place. It is considered beneath mentioning by the aliens and interesting by the greys. This puts Earth in a very bad position as it is potentially becoming interesting to the aliens as well which would open up a whole lot of bad possibilities.

I mean you could easily end up with all of earth ending up the refugee center for Lexx’s whole race. Which while they are just genetically modified versions of humanity with a lot of extra technical knowhow based on their society — do you really think Earth is ready to accept potentially millions of spacefaring refugees that are different enough to be a problem for people who cant even accept the differences between races of humans?

    1. Ugh very true Richard. If the Infernotin Empire existed in this universe I would offer them refuge there. Considering the amount of Firepower we have both in a figuretive sense and Literly the ADC would have to be down right suicidal to mess with us. I mean we have a Freaking Battlestar at our command that we can bring through to pretty much any place its immense firepower is needed using the Vortex Drive in mere minutes. Not to mention ALL Infernotins have at least a Moderate amount of Pyrokinitic abilities.

      1. And don’t forget about the Corbomite in the hulls of our spaceships. They would be fools to attack us.

        1. Uhh pal my folks use Ultanium alloy. Its atoms are so dense that even the Ultima Destruto Ray has trouble with it so it would take some pretty serious firepower to put a dent into that stuff. The UDR destroys things at the atomic level. Of course the special crystals required to have a UDR are incredibly rare and impossible to create through artifical methods. All attempts to do so have ethier resulted in a Catistrophic explosion (as in about 200 square miles in size) or a flawed crystal that when one try’s to use it results in the former explosion. I don’t know what race your talking about but it’s not my Infernotins.

        2. Star Wars? No wait, that’s not it. The Confederation of Planetes? Dang it, it’s on the tip of my tounge. 😉

  6. I love Vic’s “Smug Father” face. LOVE.

  7. …And why is Chel not saying “No, screw that.”? Pretty sure they can’t actually force her to work for them.

    1. Pretty sure even our government can force someone to work for them if they want to. 😉 I don’t TRUST THEM!!

      1. Not technically possible, but take note of this quote from The Prisoner, “By hook, or by crook, we WILL.”

    2. Because she loves Lexx?

  8. I’m so proud! My little girl just found out the secret family non-optional business and is taking it so much better than I did… in the seventies, when my father made me cut my hair and turn in my bell-bottoms for a suit.

    1. I wish I could fave comments.:D

  9. I’m thinking that (until they get deneuralizer technology), department policy is that anyone making significant contact with alien lifeforms becomes an agent. And it appears Earth has been aware of alien lifeforms for some time, although prior events indicate that they didn’t have a lot of information until now.

Ever wonder if somewhere in the family tree is non-human blood? Could be interesting, although it is doubtful. (Imagine having a Kourwine for an aunt.)

  10. I hope that Chel follows her own path and stands up to her father.

  11. ROFL SO HARD!!!! ;d Be careful what you wish for, as you often get a wish in the manner you DIDN”T expect. 🙂 HUGS!

  12. No, you don’t like them, you love them (Lexx at least).

  13. *sigh.* and sadly, from what I know of chel, she will be all “fine, daddy,” and Lexx will do anything for chel, and AD:C.U.T (which I really want to look forward to) will become: the earth adventures of blonde spy and her blue husband.

  14. So they are forcing her to work for them. No options, nothing. “You will do this, or else.”

    F*** YOU VIC!
