Dinner was good. Riley had gone on all out and brought Lexx's favorite main course and Maenae's most requested desert. The atmosphere was cheery and light despite Lexx's thoughts being elsewhere. It was easy to keep things from people you don't know when you had a relay. But it was almost impossible to prevent good friends from knowing what you're thinking.
He had to distract himself and throw his entire focus onto his guests to keep Riley from sensing something that Lexx would not want him knowing about. He would wait until they were asleep, but until then, act normal. He had to know. He had to know tonight.
Lexx was fully aware that he did not have forever.
He might not even have tomorrow.
