"Do you want to come with us, Chel?" Lexx invited, attempting to diffuse the argument. "We'll be back by evening."
"Yes." Chel accepted without hesitation. She pushed back a nagging thought that she might not get back before her father. Dash was currently more important. She would return in her bedroom anyway and she had made sure to close the door before she left. Her father never went into her room when the door was closed.
Lexx nodded and motioned to the door that led to the ship's main control room. "Let's go."
Half an hour later, The Rift had left Earth far behind and was working its way to a hidden gate that would take them to the closest away station. Chel's attention was fixated on the stars and the occasional scenic planet. on the other side of the view screen.
Lexx was busy at the control panel, confirming Dash's appointment. Then he noticed several blips appearing on the long range scanner. The blips rapidly moved to the short range scanner and then were visible on the viewscreen.
Three spaceships glided past The Rift and into the direction of the Earth. Chel watched them in awe. They were metallic purple in color and glowed softly. Their design reminded Chel of squid. Each one was slightly different, but as each of them passed she noted that they shared common features. They were cylindrical with three extensions coming from the back and a white trail of vapor dissipating behind them. They had an almost organic look to them.
"Interceptors." Lexx grated.
I can bet that they’re out to get Kane from her little island paradise…yeah, blackmail has this risk…oh and Chel…expect your father to sit on your bed when you return. You’re just ASKING for it.
