Damian glared across the room. He had a small laser gun gripped in his right hand and Lisaan was cringing behind his left side. The look on his face was so unlike how Chel was used to seeing him that she wondered if she'd stepped into another dimension. There wasn't any merriment or joy, just a grim look of determination and focus. Then Chel noticed the thin wisp of smoke wafting around the oddly shaped barrel of the gun. "CHEL!" Lexx shouted. He bumped up against the wall as he came around the corner from the balcony. "Damian, what happened?!" Riley shouted over Lexx's flared out wings. Chel took a breath. An acrid smell was coming from the now still form of Kane. There was a blade inches from Chel's head. She slowly slid to one side, expecting to lose consciousness and simply die. When it didn't happen, Chel inched slowly away from the form. She turned her head just enough to see the blade that was meant for her head was embedded in the wall next to where she had been. There was not any blood. "Chel! Are you okay?!" Lexx grabbed Chel and jerked her away from the wall. His only concern was making sure she had not been hurt and that she would not be in any further danger from … whatever that thing was pinned to the wall. Chel was completely silent, letting Lexx hold her.

  1. You know, according to my calculations, that thing would have gotten in several attacks before Damian arrived. At least Chel has the sensibility to duck.

    1. Yes, well, it’s a story, is it not? Let’s see what happens.

    2. Bah. Even a hungry cat plays with it’s victim first. Who knows what an shapeshifter might do?

Besides, if it was smart, it would’ve shifted with one hand already on Chel. Place a hand on the back of someone’s neck and shift a blade. Ta-da!

      1. Or only morph one hand and use the other to hold Chel in place.

  2. And suddenly, I realize- style change! *facepalm* I guess I got so caught up in what was happening that I didn’t notice right away.
Poor Lisaan looks like she’s in need of a soft blanket and a tight hug. So does Lexx, for that matter.

  3. I saw the first half of the first panel. I thought Damien looked badass. I saw the second half of the first panel…

    *facepalm.*

    1. It is kind of hard to look bad-ass when you’re not wearing any pants…
