Fly and the creature were suddenly dislodged by a well placed stroke of Drift’s hindpaw. The pair went flying with the creature flailing her wings frantically and screeching in a panic. Fly kept his hold on her tail, afraid to let go and trying to figure out what to do before they hit the ground.
The creature’s wings were not big enough to keep it in the air and Fly’s added weight was throwing her off balance. She still flapped, hoping to at least slow herself so she could hit the ground running.
Fly took advantage of the creature’s terrified state and the fact he was on the end without nasty teeth and claws to start twining his tail around her. Chances were with the angle of her descent that she would hit the ground before Fly would.
And she did.
The creature wobbled and suddenly dropped to the floor, slamming down on her chin and chest hard enough to temporarily stun her. She laid still for a moment, then tried to pull her legs up under her to stand. She couldn’t.
Fly had repositioned himself the moment he realized that she wasn’t moving and had his tail tightly wrapped around her body. “I got you! Yes!” Fly cheered.
The creature blinked, realizing she couldn’t move. Then she let loose a shrill screeching sound that ascended into a horrible wailing cry. Fly immediately covered his ears and considered just letting her go so he wouldn’t have to hear the crying anymore.
